Gmail & Google Account Help

Email, sign-in and account settings

Start with the problem you can see

Find the right route for a Google sign-in problem, unfamiliar account activity, missing mail, or an account setting. Check the full account address first: a personal Google Account and a managed work or school account can need different help.

Cannot sign in?

Use Google's recovery flow for the existing account. Keep a familiar signed-in device available, and follow any waiting instructions shown for your request.

Unfamiliar activity or changed details?

Review security events, devices, recovery details and mail settings from a trusted device. A password change does not replace a review of forwarding and app access.

Lost a verification device?

Check the backup methods already enrolled. A recovery number, an SMS second step and a phone receiving prompts are different settings.

Mail or storage problem?

Check the selected mailbox and the message's location before creating another account or deleting data. Storage is shared across several Google services.

Changing an address or identity?

Check which email or display field you need. Address-change options and effects depend on the account; review them before confirming a change.

Connected app or privacy concern?

Review the type of connection and the requested data. Removing a Google connection does not necessarily delete data already held by the app.

Useful checks and related help

Inspect a suspicious message or link

Use the email and URL checker to examine a message's details. Treat its findings as clues; they do not certify that a sender or request is genuine.

Check a wider service problem

Read the service-outage brief and its source times before changing local settings. A service incident and a personal account restriction need different responses.
