Google’s sign-in chooser can remember an address after you have signed out. You can remove that remembered entry without deleting the Google Account or its cloud data.
Remove the remembered account
- Open a Google service in the relevant browser context.
- Sign out of the Google accounts there if necessary. Save work and check your sign-in methods first.
- On the account chooser, select Remove an account.
- Select the removal control beside the intended address and confirm the prompt.
- Check that the address is no longer offered in that chooser.
Google notes that if you are signed in across several browsers, you may need to perform the procedure in each one. Removing an entry in one browser does not clean up every device you have used.
Recognize the safe scope
The chooser entry is a remembered convenience. Removing it does not erase Gmail, Drive files, purchases, or the Google Account itself. You can sign in again by entering the address and completing authentication.
If you see a page describing deletion of the Google Account or a Google service, stop: that is not the chooser-removal operation.
Do not overlook other stored information
A browser’s password manager, downloaded attachments, and Chrome profile are separate from the chooser. Removing the address from the chooser does not establish that no credential or file remains on a shared computer.
If privacy is the goal, inspect your own saved information appropriately. Avoid clearing another person’s entire browser or deleting an active browser profile as a shortcut.
For security concerns, inspect sessions
If somebody may still have access on a device, open your account’s security settings from a trusted device and review Manage all devices. Sign out relevant sessions; a single device may have several.
An account disappearing from a chooser is not evidence that an attacker has lost all access. Conversely, an address remaining in a signed-out chooser is not proof that the browser can open the mailbox. Check authenticated access and remembered display entries separately.
