If Sign in with Google is missing or fails inside an app’s built-in browser, try the provider’s supported website or external-browser flow. Google blocks some embedded authentication environments to protect account credentials.
Identify where the failure occurs
Check whether you are using the full browser or a small web view inside another app. Record the provider, the stage of sign-in, and the exact error without sharing private redirect URLs.
Google’s error guide identifies disallowed_useragent as an embedded-WebView problem. Other errors can concern app configuration or organization policy, so do not assume every missing button has the same cause.
Use the supported route
- Open the provider’s known website directly in an updated supported browser.
- Use its normal sign-in page.
- Select Sign in with Google if the provider offers it there.
- Choose the intended Google Account.
- Confirm that the existing provider profile opens.
If the app offers an Open in browser option for authentication, use its documented flow. A provider that does not support Google sign-in cannot be made to support it by installing an unknown browser extension.
Check browser requirements narrowly
Google can reject environments with disabled JavaScript, unsupported extensions, outdated software, or software-controlled sign-in. Check the relevant supported-browser guidance.
Do not disable antivirus, bypass certificate warnings, or give the provider your Google password directly as a substitute for a blocked OAuth flow.
When the developer must fix it
Google says the app developer must repair an unsupported embedded sign-in implementation. Report the app version and non-sensitive error through the provider’s official support channel.
Repeated password resets will not correct an app’s disallowed authentication environment. If the account is managed, the administrator may also need to review allowed apps and device policy.
Verify identity after the workaround
A successful browser login is useful only if it reaches the intended profile, subscription, and data. Do not create another empty profile merely because the browser presents a new signup option. Preserve any working provider session until you understand its relationship with the chosen Google identity.
