Gmail on iPhone Keeps Asking You to Sign In: Check the Account Session

2026年10月29日 by wisechecker

If Gmail on iPhone repeatedly asks you to sign in, identify the app and exact address before entering credentials again. A prompt in Google’s Gmail app, Apple Mail, and a browser can concern different sessions. Repeated authentication requests do not automatically mean the password is wrong or the account has been compromised.

Check the session without losing working access

  1. Confirm that the prompt belongs to the app you intentionally opened and the account you expected to use.
  2. Open the provider’s known website directly to check whether that account still works. Keep your only working session open.
  3. Record the exact error and whether it began after a password change, app update, or organization policy change.

A work or school administrator can impose session requirements. If the message refers to an organizational restriction, ask the administrator about the actual policy rather than repeatedly removing and adding the account.

Use the supported sign-in flow

Update Gmail and the supported iPhone software, restart the app or device, and retry the normal Google sign-in flow. Google recommends modern Sign in with Google authorization for compatible mail clients. A Gmail-app prompt is not a general instruction to create an app password.

Do not disable two-step verification, weaken certificate checks, or enter a password into a page reached from an unexpected email. Approve a verification request only when it matches the sign-in you are performing. If unfamiliar sessions or account changes appear, follow Google’s compromised-account guidance from a trusted device.

Preserve drafts before replacing the connection

If re-adding the account becomes necessary, first confirm recovery and sign-in options and save unsent work. Google’s iPhone instructions explain that removing the account from Gmail also signs it out of other Google apps on the device. It does not delete the Google Account.

After reconnecting, check one new incoming message and a saved draft, then observe whether the prompt returns. Give support the app version, account type, error wording, and timing without sharing passwords, verification codes, or session tokens.
