If Gmail works when browser extensions are off, restore them systematically to identify the conflict. Leaving every extension disabled permanently can remove useful accessibility or work features without showing which component caused the problem.
Create a repeatable, harmless test
Choose the exact operation that failed, such as opening Settings or viewing an ordinary message. Avoid using Send as the repeated test. Record the browser version and the installed extensions before changing anything else.
Check the extensions actually active in the test profile. Incognito or private mode may still permit selected extensions, and a managed extension may be enforced. A clean result is useful only if you know which components were absent.
Re-enable one extension at a time
In Chrome, open the extensions management page. Turn on one extension, reload Gmail after saving work, and repeat the test. Continue until the fault returns. Then turn off that extension and confirm that the same operation works again.
If the result is inconsistent, test the suspected extension alone and consider interactions between two tools that both modify Gmail. Also check for available browser and extension updates. Keep the original results so a later update does not erase the evidence of what changed.
Choose a limited remedy
Where the extension supports it, restrict its access to Gmail or change the feature that causes the conflict. Otherwise leave that extension disabled and report the problem to its vendor. Review its requested permissions before considering a replacement.
Do not remove an organization-managed security extension without authorization. Give IT the reproducible steps, extension version, and before-and-after results. If Gmail still fails with every optional extension off, return to browser, connection, and service-status checks; the first successful comparison does not prove that extensions are the only possible cause. Never include real messages or account tokens in an extension vendor’s public issue tracker.
