A Google Group can contain a message without sending an individual copy to every member’s Gmail inbox. Check membership, subscription, and moderation before changing Gmail’s general delivery settings.
Confirm the membership and subscription
Sign in to Google Groups with the intended account, open the group, and inspect My membership settings. Verify that the membership is active and uses the expected address.
Each email sends individual messages. Digest and Abridged combine messages, while No email does not send copies. Those choices explain many differences between the group’s conversation history and a member’s inbox. Digest-style options also depend on the group’s conversation-history setting.
Determine whether the group accepted the message
Ask an authorized owner or manager to check the group’s conversation and moderation state. Posting restrictions, pending approval, or an invalid sender can stop a message before member delivery. A message not accepted by the group is different from a member copy filtered by Gmail.
Use a test from another authorized sender when appropriate, rather than assuming the sender must receive an identical copy of their own posting. Keep the original message identifier and any rejection text.
Trace the member’s copy
Once the group accepted the message and the subscription requires delivery, search the member’s Gmail, including Spam and archived mail. Inspect filters that may move group messages. Workspace administrators can use the available Email Log Search scope to investigate a recent delivery.
Do not enable public posting or remove moderation for the entire group as a diagnostic shortcut. Also avoid deleting and recreating a member before recording their current role and subscription. Provide the owner or administrator with the group address, member address, posting time, subscription, and message identifier through a private support channel. Confirm a fresh test reaches the intended member after any narrow correction.
