If a scheduled Gmail message seems not to have sent, determine its current state before sending another copy. It may still be queued, have returned to Drafts after cancellation, or already be in Sent. A recipient’s report that nothing arrived does not identify which of those states applies.
Inspect the scheduled item and account
Open the account that created the schedule and look in Scheduled. Check the full date, time, and recipient rather than just the subject. Google bases delivery on the scheduling time zone and says sending can occur a few minutes after the chosen time.
If the expected time has not actually arrived in that zone, avoid rescheduling unnecessarily. If it has passed substantially, record the displayed state and any explicit error before making changes.
Check Drafts and Sent
Cancelling Schedule send returns the message to a draft. If somebody cancelled it to make an edit but did not schedule it again, it is no longer queued. Open that draft, verify its content, and choose the intended action deliberately.
If the message is in Sent, the next question is delivery rather than the existence of a schedule. Check for a returned error message and confirm the recipient address. Do not interpret Sent as proof that the recipient read the message or that their provider placed it in the inbox.
Avoid duplicates while investigating
Before replacing an uncertain scheduled item, verify that no active original remains. Use a private subject or time reference to distinguish tests and record which copy is authoritative. Repeatedly pressing Send creates a different problem if the first message was already delivered.
If a message cannot be located, search the correct mailbox and other signed-in accounts, and review whether another application or person with authorized access changed it. Gmail’s missing-message guidance is useful for that broader search, but it does not promise recovery of every removed message.
For a persistent queue problem, retain the chosen time zone, expected time, visible status, and any non-sensitive error details for support or the Workspace administrator. Avoid deleting account data or disabling security controls merely to test scheduled delivery.
