Google Account Settings Appear in the Wrong Language: Change the Web Language

2026年10月29日 by wisechecker

When Google Account pages open in the wrong language, change the account’s web language first. This preference applies to Google services on the web; it does not automatically change your phone’s menus, every installed Google app, or the language of messages other people send you.

Change the web preference

  1. Open myaccount.google.com/language in a browser and check that the correct Google Account is selected.
  2. Under Preferred language, select the edit control.
  3. Choose the language you want, then confirm your selection.
  4. Close and reopen the browser, then return to the affected Google page.

If several accounts are signed in, inspect the profile menu on the page that still uses the wrong language. Changing the preference for a personal account does not also change a work account. An existing page may need to be reopened before its interface reflects the preference.

Check automatically added and fallback languages

Google can add languages based on the services you use. On the language page, look for entries marked Added for you. You can save a language you want to keep or remove an unwanted entry. If the option is available, turn off Automatically add languages to stop future automatic additions.

A service may not support your preferred language. In that case, Google can use another language in your list. Check the alternatives before assuming that the setting failed. This preference also does not promise that all search results or third-party websites will be translated.

Resolve a remaining mismatch at the right level

If the account website is correct but the Gmail mobile app is not, check the phone’s language settings and any supported per-app language setting. For an individual service’s content or region preference, use that service’s controls. Web language, country, billing country, and time zone are different settings.

Avoid clearing all browser data just to change a language. That can remove unrelated sessions without addressing the account or device preference. First verify the selected account, reopen the page, and compare the same page in a supported browser. If you later troubleshoot site data, understand the sign-out effects before deleting anything.
