Perplexity Active Sessions: How to Sign Out Remote Devices

2026年5月11日 by wisechecker

You logged into Perplexity on a public computer, a friend’s phone, or an old laptop and forgot to sign out. Your account remains active on that device, exposing your search history, saved collections, and subscription data. Perplexity stores active sessions for each device where you authenticated, but you can revoke access remotely without visiting those devices. This article explains how to view and terminate all active sessions from your account settings so no unauthorized user can access your data.

Key Takeaways: Remote Sign-Out for Perplexity Accounts

  • Settings > Account > Manage Sessions: Lists every device and browser where you are signed in, with timestamps and device names.
  • Sign Out All Devices button: Terminates every session except the current one in one click.
  • Individual session removal: Click the X icon next to a single session to revoke access for just that device.

How Perplexity Active Sessions Work

Each time you sign in to Perplexity on a new device or browser, the service creates an active session. This session is a token stored on that device that authenticates your identity without requiring your password again. Sessions persist until you manually sign out, the token expires, or you revoke it remotely. Perplexity does not automatically expire sessions after a short period, so a session left open on a shared computer can remain active for days or weeks.

The session list in your account settings shows the device name, browser, operating system, and the last active time. This information helps you identify which sessions belong to you and which ones may be from forgotten devices. The current session where you are viewing the list is marked and cannot be removed from the same interface — you must sign out manually on that device.

Steps to View and Sign Out Remote Devices

Follow these steps to access the session manager and remove unwanted sessions. You need a desktop browser for the full account settings view. The mobile app shows a simplified version that may not include the session manager.

  1. Open Perplexity in a browser
Go to perplexity.ai and sign in with your account credentials.
  2. Go to Settings
Click your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner of the page. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. Open Account settings
In the left sidebar, click Account. This section contains your subscription info, email, and session management options.
  4. Scroll to Active Sessions
Scroll down until you see the Active Sessions heading. Below it, a table lists every device with its name, browser, OS, and last active time.
  5. Identify sessions to remove
Review the list. Look for devices you no longer own, public computers, or sessions with unfamiliar names. The current session has a label that says Current Session.
  6. Sign out a single device
Click the X icon on the right side of the row for the session you want to remove. A confirmation dialog appears. Click Sign Out to confirm.
  7. Sign out all devices at once
To remove every session except the current one, click the Sign Out All Devices button at the top of the Active Sessions section. Confirm the action in the dialog that appears.

After you sign out a device, that device loses access immediately. The user on that device sees a session expired message the next time they try to search or access your account.

If You Cannot Access the Session Manager

Some users report that the Active Sessions section does not appear in their settings. This usually happens for one of three reasons.

Session Manager Missing in Account Settings

If you do not see the Active Sessions heading, check that you are using a desktop browser. The mobile web version and the Perplexity mobile app do not show the session manager. Switch to a desktop browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Also verify that you are on the Settings > Account page, not the Profile or Billing page.

Session List Shows Only the Current Device

Perplexity may not show other sessions if you signed in on devices using a different authentication method. For example, if you signed in with Google on a phone and with email on your desktop, the sessions may appear in separate groups. Sign out on the desktop, then sign back in using the same Google account. This merges the session lists.

Sign Out All Devices Does Not Work

If clicking Sign Out All Devices does not remove sessions, clear your browser cache and cookies for perplexity.ai. Then sign in again and repeat the process. If the issue persists, contact Perplexity support through the Help center in Settings.

Perplexity Active Sessions: Desktop vs Mobile

Item Desktop Browser Mobile App
Session manager location Settings > Account > Active Sessions Not available
View session list Yes, with device name, browser, OS, last active No
Sign out single device Yes, click X icon No
Sign out all devices Yes, click Sign Out All Devices button No
Current session removal Cannot remove from this interface Sign out manually in app

The mobile app does not offer remote session management. To sign out of the mobile app, open the sidebar, tap your profile icon, and select Sign Out. This only signs out the current device, not other sessions.

Conclusion

You can now view and terminate Perplexity active sessions from any desktop browser using Settings > Account > Active Sessions. This feature lets you sign out individual devices or all remote devices with one click. To prevent future forgotten sessions, sign out manually on shared or public computers before closing the browser. For extra security, enable two-factor authentication in Settings > Account > Security to require a verification code on each new device sign-in.
