How to Export Personal Data From a Perplexity Account

All collections you have created, including their names, descriptions, and the list of saved threads within each collection. The export does not include any shared or public collection visibility settings.

Pro Subscription Details

If you are a Perplexity Pro subscriber, the export includes your subscription plan name, billing cycle, next payment date, and payment method type. It does not include full payment card numbers.

Usage Logs

Steps to Request Your Personal Data Export From Perplexity

Follow these steps to download your data archive. The entire process takes about 10 minutes from start to finish.

1. Log in to your Perplexity account
   Open a web browser and go to perplexity.ai. Sign in with the email and password associated with your account. If you use Google or Apple single sign-on, authenticate through that method.
2. Open the Settings menu
   Click your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner of the page. A dropdown menu appears. Select Settings from the list.
3. Navigate to the Account section
   In the left sidebar of the Settings page, click Account. The right panel shows your account details and data management options.
4. Click the Export Data button
   Scroll down to the Export Data section. Click the blue Export Data button. A confirmation dialog appears asking if you want to proceed.

Common Issues When Exporting Data From Perplexity

Export Button Is Grayed Out or Unresponsive

If the Export Data button appears grayed out, refresh the browser page and log in again. Clear your browser cache for perplexity.ai if the issue persists. The button becomes active only when you are fully authenticated.

No Email Received After Confirming Export

Check your spam or junk folder first. Add no-reply@perplexity.ai to your email contacts to prevent future messages from being filtered. If the email does not arrive within 30 minutes, repeat the export process from Settings > Account.

Download Link Has Expired

The download link in the email is valid for 24 hours only. If the link expires, return to Settings > Account and click Export Data again. Perplexity generates a fresh link and sends a new email.

ZIP File Appears Corrupted or Empty

Ensure you have a stable internet connection during the download. Try downloading the file again using a different browser. If the file remains corrupted, contact Perplexity support through the help center.

Exported Data Missing Some Search History

Perplexity exports only the data stored on its servers at the time of the request. If you deleted threads or searches before the export, they are not included. The export does not include data from third-party integrations or browser extensions.
