Choose PDF files

Choose one or more PDF files. They will be processed only in this browser on your device.

Before you begin: This tool does not open password-protected PDFs, preserve digital signatures or provide secure redaction. Keep your original files.

A practical guide to editing PDFs safely

PDF is designed to preserve a finished layout, not to behave like an editable Word document. This workbench focuses on reliable page-level organization and common finishing tasks without claiming to rewrite existing text or images.

Merge multiple PDFs

Combine reports, invoices and attachments in the order you load them. Review the thumbnails, move pages into place and remove duplicates before downloading the merged PDF.

Extract only the pages you need

Select the pages you want and choose Download selected pages. You can apply page numbers or a watermark first. Review the result before sharing because metadata or annotations may still contain information.

Rotate, reorder and duplicate pages

Correct scanned-page orientation, move a cover to the front or duplicate a worksheet from the thumbnail grid. Buttons are provided for touch devices as an alternative to drag and drop.

Add page numbers

Finalize the page order first, then choose a position, format and starting number. You can number every page, selected pages or a range such as 2-10.

Add a DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL watermark

A watermark communicates document status; it does not prevent viewing, copying or extraction. Custom text is rendered to an image in your browser and placed over the chosen pages.

Review or remove document properties

PDFs can contain a hidden title, author, subject and keywords. Check these fields before external distribution and remove names or project details that should not travel with the file.

Local processing vs. online PDF services

Local browser processing can be useful when a document should not be uploaded to a third-party conversion service. Your organization’s security policy still takes priority, including rules for browsers, extensions, managed devices and confidential information.

A safer PDF workflow

  1. Keep the original: Work from a copy and retain the source PDF unchanged.
  2. Check the import: Confirm file count, page count, size and thumbnails.
  3. Organize pages first: Complete merging, deletion, reordering, rotation and duplication.
  4. Apply finishing options last: Add page numbers, watermarks and document properties after the order is final.
  5. Download under a new name: Use a filename that clearly distinguishes the result.
  6. Open the new PDF: Verify page order, orientation, text, links, forms, annotations and print output.

What this tool does not do

Edit existing text or run OCR

This tool cannot rewrite text already embedded in a PDF or recognize text in scans. If you have the original Word, Excel or PowerPoint file, edit it and export a new PDF.

Securely redact information

Covering text with a black shape is not secure redaction; underlying text may remain searchable or copyable. Use dedicated redaction software and verify the result by searching and copying.

Preserve digital signatures

Editing and saving a signed PDF normally invalidates signature verification. Work from the unsigned source and apply the signature only after all edits are final.

Compress by lowering image quality

This tool does not promise a compression ratio because safe size reduction may require rebuilding images. Adjust source images or use a dedicated optimizer when smaller files are essential.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded to WiseChecker?

No. Loading, thumbnail rendering, editing and export run in your browser memory. Work data is discarded when you close or reload the page.

Can I edit a password-protected PDF?

No. This tool does not bypass passwords or encryption. If you are authorized to edit the document, ask its owner or administrator for an unlocked working copy.

Can I change text or images already inside the PDF?

No. The tool handles page organization, page numbers, text watermarks and document properties. Edit the source document and export it again when direct content changes are required.

How large can a PDF be?

The guided limit is 100 MB and 500 pages total. Actual capacity depends on your device memory and browser. Split very large jobs into smaller groups if the browser slows down.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

It works in modern browsers, but large PDFs can use substantial memory. A desktop computer is recommended for long business documents. Use the Earlier and Later buttons to reorder pages on touch devices.

Can forms, links or signatures change after export?

Yes. Page content is preserved where possible, but forms, annotations, bookmarks, attachments, JavaScript and digital signatures may change or be lost depending on the PDF structure. Always test the features you need in the downloaded file.

Can I recover work after closing the tab?

No. To protect privacy, the tool does not persist your PDF or editing state on a server or in browser storage. Download the result before leaving the page.

Technology and transparency

WiseChecker uses Mozilla’s PDF.js for rendering, PDF-LIB for page operations and export, and JSZip for split-file ZIP downloads. Versioned library files are served from WiseChecker, and your PDF data is not sent to those projects or to an external CDN.
