How to Delete a Saved Thread From the Perplexity Library

You have saved threads in your Perplexity library to revisit later, but now the list is cluttered with old or irrelevant conversations. Perplexity stores every thread you explicitly save, and over time this collection can grow large and hard to navigate. How Perplexity Library Stores Saved Threads

Perplexity lets you save any thread by clicking the bookmark icon on the thread page. Saved threads appear in a dedicated Library section accessible from the left sidebar. You can open a saved thread, continue the conversation, or delete it when you no longer need it.

The library is synced across all devices where you are logged into the same Perplexity account. Deleting a thread on one device removes it from all other devices. Only threads you explicitly saved appear in the library. Threads you did not save are not stored there and do not need to be deleted.

Steps to Delete a Saved Thread From the Perplexity Library

The deletion process is identical on the web app and the Windows app. Mobile apps use a slightly different tap interaction but follow the same logic. Follow the steps for your platform.

Delete a Saved Thread on the Web or Windows App

1. Open Perplexity and sign in
   Go to perplexity.ai in your browser or open the Perplexity Windows app. Make sure you are signed into the account that owns the saved thread.
2. Go to the Library
   On the left sidebar, click the Library icon. It looks like a bookmark or a small stack of papers. The library page shows all your saved threads as cards.
3. Locate the thread you want to delete
   Scroll through the list or use the search bar at the top of the library to find the specific thread. Threads are sorted by the date they were saved, with the most recent at the top.
4. Click the three-dot menu on the thread card
   Each thread card has a three-dot icon in the top-right corner. Click or tap it to open a dropdown menu.
5. Select Delete
   From the dropdown menu, click Delete. A confirmation dialog appears asking if you are sure you want to remove this thread from your library.

1. Open the Perplexity app
   Launch the Perplexity app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Sign in if you have not already.

Perplexity keeps a history of all threads you have started, regardless of whether you saved them. To completely remove a thread from your account, you must also delete it from your thread history.

Deleting a thread from the library does not delete the thread from the account of any other user who might have been part of the conversation. Threads are private to each account. If you shared a thread with someone, they can still access their own copy.

If You Cannot Delete a Saved Thread

The Delete Option Is Grayed Out or Missing

This can happen if you are not signed into the account that originally saved the thread. Check your account email in Settings > Account. If you are using a shared or family device, make sure you are not viewing another user’s library. Sign out and sign back in with your own credentials.

The Thread Reappears After Deletion

If a thread reappears in your library after you delete it, you may have an automatic save feature enabled. Perplexity does not have a built-in auto-save toggle.
