If that database grows too large or encounters an error during a write operation, it stops updating properly. The result is the same small set of suggestions appearing every time you open the search box.

Another factor is the way Threads syncs suggestion data from Instagram. If your Instagram account has a limited set of followed accounts or interacts with the same few profiles repeatedly, Threads pulls that limited data and repeats it. The app does not automatically refresh its suggestion algorithm unless you give it a clear signal to start over.

• Account profiles you viewed in the last 30 days
• Suggested accounts generated by the app’s algorithm
