Google Calendar’s desktop offline mode is a viewing feature with important editing limits. Google’s current guidance supports this workflow in Chrome. Do not assume that opening a cached calendar allows new events, guest emails, or tasks to work normally without a connection.
Enable offline access while connected
On a computer in Chrome, open Settings > Settings > Offline and turn on offline calendar. Choose Reload now. Wait for the synchronization status to show Ready for offline before depending on the stored view.
Understand the available information
Google says offline viewing includes events from the last four weeks and future dates in day, week, or month views. The data reflects the last online synchronization. A stored event may therefore be outdated if someone changed it after the computer disconnected.
While offline, the documented workflow cannot create or edit events, email guests, or access tasks. Do not promise an offline edit queue or use this feature as proof that a newly typed appointment was saved.
Verify the actual offline state
Inspect a representative event and the Offline status when an appropriate test is possible. Reconnect and confirm current details before acting on a critical meeting or reschedule. Google warns that clearing cached images and files also removes Calendar offline support, requiring it to be enabled again. Avoid broad cache clearing as a routine first fix. Consider the privacy of calendar information stored on a shared computer. The completed setup should establish a usable retained view with known freshness and limits, rather than imply that every Calendar function remains available without internet access.
