Invite Guests from Google Calendar on Android

The Google Calendar Android app can invite people using their email addresses, including people who do not use Google Calendar. Adding a guest is different from sharing an entire calendar. Review addresses and event permissions before saving a meeting that sends invitations.

Add the intended guests

Open the event and tap Edit > Add people. Enter the verified name or email address. Use Mark optional beside a guest when appropriate, then tap Done. Google’s Android invitation guidance says saving sends an email invitation to the guests.

Review event and permission details

Check the date, time, location, and conference information before saving. Inspect Guests can settings if you need to control editing, adding others, or seeing the guest list. Do not give broader guest capabilities merely to make an invitation easier to send.

The guidance says people cannot be added through the ordinary workflow to events automatically created from Gmail. Available scheduling suggestions can also depend on account type, connectivity, event shape, and calendar sharing.

Verify responses separately

Save and reopen the event’s Guests section to inspect attendance responses. An address on the list or a sent invitation is not proof that the recipient accepted. If the person cannot find it, check the actual address, legitimate inbox, spam folder, and invitation settings before creating another event. Be cautious when forwarding invitation emails: Google’s help warns that recipients may see updates and change your response. A successful invitation review should preserve one clear meeting and an accurate guest list, with calendar sharing, invitation delivery, and actual attendance treated as distinct states.
