Review Android App Calendar Access When Spam Events Persist

Persistent spam events on Android can come from an app with calendar permission, not only from incoming invitations. Review that source before repeatedly changing your Google Calendar invitation policy. Removing an app’s permission and removing events already created are separate tasks.

Inspect calendar permissions

Open the Android device’s Settings and find the permission manager’s Calendar category. Google’s guidance gives a Security and privacy, Privacy controls, Permission manager route, while noting that device menus can differ. Review the actual apps allowed to access calendar data.

Remove only unwanted access

Select the app whose calendar access is not needed or is associated with the unwanted behavior, and choose the appropriate permission setting. Do not revoke every calendar-related app indiscriminately when a legitimate scheduling tool still needs access.

Google explicitly says removing permission does not delete events already on the calendar. Hiding a spam calendar also does not prevent an authorized app from creating more calendars or entries.

Verify the source and existing entries

Inspect the affected calendar and monitor whether the identified behavior continues. Review existing spam entries through the appropriate calendar controls without opening their external links. Keep a record of the legitimate calendar and account before removing anything. If another provider supplies the calendar, use that provider’s official help for its own access model. Known-sender invitation settings remain a different layer because direct app writes are not the same as email invitations. The completed review should identify the relevant app permission and separately address earlier unwanted data, without claiming that one hidden checkbox or permission change automatically erases every spam event already stored.
