If Google Meet does not show the screen-sharing picker, establish exactly where the process stops. A disabled Present now button, a picker missing one window, and an error after selecting Share are different problems. Record the stage before repeatedly reopening controls or broadening the share.
Check whether presentation is allowed
Find Present now and read any message shown when you select or hover over it. Google identifies host controls and administrator settings as possible limits on screen sharing. Ask the host to verify that presentation is allowed for your meeting. A participant-side browser permission change cannot override an intentional host or organization restriction.
Check the browser and target window
If the picker opens but omits the target, bring the application window out of its minimized state. Google says selections are limited to open windows. Confirm the desired tab belongs to the browser you are using. Use an updated Chrome browser for the fullest documented sharing functionality, following your normal approved update process. Avoid selecting an entire screen merely because a confidential target is difficult to identify.
Retry after a relevant permission check
When an error mentions access, inspect the browser and operating-system screen-sharing permissions, especially the Mac screen-recording controls. Reopen the browser if the system requires it, preserving the original meeting link. A browser restart affects other tabs too, so save work and coordinate rejoining before taking that step. Retry with a harmless prepared source and ask a participant to confirm it updates. If the picker still never appears, send support the browser version, operating system, button behavior, and exact message. Those observations help distinguish a meeting restriction from a browser or device problem without deleting profiles or resetting unrelated settings.
