Start a Google Meet recording from the meeting itself after checking the host’s recording entitlement and your permission to record. The recording is stored for the organizer, even when another eligible participant presses Start. Explain the intended capture and sharing arrangements before recording substantive discussion.
Join the full meeting on a computer
Open the correct meeting with the account authorized to record. Join the video meeting, rather than entering only to present. If Host Management is on, the host or an appointed co-host should operate recording. Check for any consent prompt required by the organization’s administrator. Resolve the prompt according to the meeting’s agreed process rather than assuming attendance silently approves every capture feature.
Start from Meeting tools
At the bottom right, select Meeting tools, then Recording. If you want captions saved with the video, select the recording caption language offered there. Click Start recording, then Start in the confirmation. Wait for recording to begin and check the visible active status. Participants receive a notification when recording starts; selecting a menu item alone is not the outcome check.
Monitor the capture and destination
The recording includes the active speaker and presented content, rather than reproducing your personal pinned layout. Keep sensitive unrelated content out of any shared screen. When the required segment ends, use the recording panel’s Stop recording control and confirm the stop. Google saves new recordings under the organizer’s Google Meet folder in Drive, in a meeting-specific subfolder. The organizer and person who started recording receive an email link when it is ready. Allow processing time and review the actual file and permissions before telling absent colleagues the replay is available.
