If you need a link from Google Meet chat after the call, save it to an approved location while you can still see it. Chat history availability differs by meeting type and participant status. Do not assume that closing the meeting leaves an accessible transcript in your account.
Recover the link before leaving
Open Chat in the current meeting and locate the message. Check the sender, description, and destination so you copy the intended address. Save the link with enough context to identify its document or task in your normal permitted notes or workspace. Do not copy confidential discussion that you do not need merely because it appears next to the link.
Check whether history persists for you
With eligible continuous meeting chat, internal guests included on the Calendar invitation can retrieve the meeting conversation through Google Chat. External guests, unsigned-in users, and internal participants not on the invitation may have only temporary access while connected. Without continuous meeting chat, Google says messages disappear when you leave. Pinning a message in the call should not be treated as a promise of personal access after the meeting.
Verify access independently
Open the saved address with the account you will use later and check that the correct destination loads. A copied restricted-file link can still require permission, and temporary or authenticated URLs may behave differently outside the current session. Ask the owner for the appropriate durable sharing link when necessary. If you already left and history is unavailable, request the specific link through an agreed channel rather than claiming it can be restored from Meet. Retain only the material your organization permits. The useful outcome is a verified, appropriately accessible reference, not an indiscriminate copy of the meeting’s entire conversation.
