Join Google Meet with a Code on iPhone or iPad

A Google Meet code lets you join from an iPhone or iPad without finding the meeting in the app’s schedule. Use the code from a trusted invitation and check that it still belongs to the intended session. Entering a valid code does not override account restrictions or the organizer’s admission settings.

Enter the code in the Meet app

Open the Meet app on your iPhone or iPad. Google’s current app instructions place a keyboard control near the search bar at the top. Tap it, enter the meeting code, and tap Join at the top right. Review the joining screen, then use Join or Ask to join as offered.

Distinguish a code from an organizational nickname

Google allows meeting nicknames only for people in the same organization using supported Workspace accounts. An external participant should use the actual joining link or meeting code supplied by the organizer. If the app asks for a name in an unsigned-in flow, provide the agreed display name and request admission. That name does not itself establish permission to enter.

Check a rejected or unexpected result

Compare the characters with the latest trusted invitation and confirm whether the organizer changed the meeting. Meet codes have different expiration rules depending on how they were created, so an older code is not guaranteed to remain usable. Google’s iPhone and iPad guidance also supports joining through Safari with a meeting URL, but switching entry routes does not bypass admission policy. If a code opens the wrong session, leave before sharing private information. Send the organizer the exact error and intended account instead of trying unrelated codes.
