Hiding completed tasks in Google Calendar can make the grid clearer without deleting their records. Use the display preference when you want to focus on active work. It is different from hiding all tasks, marking unfinished work complete, or removing a task permanently.
Change the completed-task display
On a computer, open the view switcher beside the Settings menu. Google’s guidance says to deselect Show completed tasks in that menu. Check the correct account and current view before deciding an entry has disappeared.
Keep other task controls separate
Under My calendars, unchecking Tasks hides all tasks from the grid, including unfinished work. That is a broader display choice. The task’s Delete control is different again and should not be used simply to reduce visible clutter.
Completing a recurring task also leaves its future routine to manage. Do not stop repetition merely because a completed instance remains visible until you change the display setting.
Verify active and completed records
Inspect an unfinished task to confirm it still appears, then use an appropriate task or completed-items view to check a known completed record. Re-enable Show completed tasks when you need to review history on the grid. If all tasks are missing, check the Tasks calendar checkbox and account before creating replacements. A cleaner display is not evidence that the underlying task data was erased. The completed configuration should preserve records while presenting the intended active work, with a clear way to find earlier completed items and no unnecessary deletion of tasks that may still matter for later reference.
