A Gmail add-on can be installed yet absent from the current view. Check the selected Google Account, the side panel, and the add-on’s supported context before assuming installation failed. An add-on intended for another Workspace product may not provide a Gmail interface.
Find the installed add-on in the right account
On desktop Gmail, show the side panel if it is hidden. Google’s built-in Calendar, Keep, and Tasks icons are different from optional Marketplace add-ons. Open Get Add-ons only if you actually intend to find or install an additional application.
If you previously installed an add-on, check its listing and management screen under the same account. Follow the publisher’s documented usage conditions: some tools appear when you open a message, while others work in the compose window. A missing action on the inbox list alone is not proof of a broken installation.
Check organizational restrictions
Work and school administrators can control which Marketplace applications users may install or use. An organization-installed app may have different management controls from an app you installed personally. Ask an administrator about the specific add-on and intended account, rather than trying to bypass an approval requirement.
Do not repeatedly authorize look-alike applications to make an icon appear. Check the publisher and requested permissions. Installing a tool for Gmail does not mean it needs access to every Google service in your account.
Verify a limited, harmless action
After a legitimate installation or an approved access change, reload Gmail and check the documented location. Test with a message that contains no sensitive information. Confirm the add-on is acting in the account and service you intended.
If it still does not appear, record the publisher, installed account, browser, organization restrictions, and whether the problem concerns reading or composing. Share only the minimum details with the publisher’s established support channel. Removing the mailbox or weakening browser protection is not a necessary first step for a missing sidebar tool.
