Google Calendar on Android can follow the device’s time zone or use a manually selected display zone. Choose deliberately when traveling or coordinating with a home office. A changed local display does not necessarily mean the meeting’s actual instant changed.
Open the time-zone preference
In the Google Calendar app, open Menu > Settings > General. Find Use device time zone. Google’s Android guidance says turning it on updates the calendar’s zone automatically as you travel.
Select the intended display context
Leave device time zone on when the current local zone is the desired reference. Turn it off to select another zone from the available dropdown. Verify the actual city or region rather than relying on an abbreviation that can be ambiguous.
Check the device’s own zone separately if automatic behavior looks wrong. Do not edit every meeting’s hour merely to make the calendar resemble its earlier home-zone display.
Verify appointments around travel
Inspect a known timed event and its local date, especially around midnight. Google’s guidance says invitees see meetings in their own local-time context, and tasks can adapt to a new Calendar time zone. Review important task reminders as well as meetings after travel. For distant dates or a region that changed its clock rules, Google warns that displayed daylight-saving information can be imperfect. Confirm critical arrangements against the organizer’s source schedule. The completed preference should establish how this Android app displays the calendar, without claiming that every event was rescheduled or that another person’s device automatically uses the same zone and local date.
