Find the Transcript Document After a Google Meet Session

A Google Meet transcript is saved for the organizer and distributed through specific email and Calendar routes. The fact that someone attended the call does not establish their document access. First identify the correct session and allow the transcript time to finish processing.

Check the email recipients

After the meeting, Google sends a transcript link to the host, co-hosts, and the person who started transcription. Longer meetings can take longer to process. If the email has not arrived, ask one of those recipients to check rather than assuming every attendee should have received it. Verify the meeting date and organizer before opening a similarly titled document.

Find the organizer’s Drive location

Current transcripts are stored inside Google Meet in the organizer’s Drive, in a meeting-specific subfolder. Google describes a July 2026 transition in which the older Meet Recordings folder becomes Legacy Meet Recordings inside that new parent folder. Older transcripts remain available there. If transcription was stopped and restarted, expect a separate file for each start and review the correct segment.

Check the event attachment and permissions

The transcript is also attached to the meeting’s Calendar event. Google’s transcript guidance says invitees in the host’s organization can open that attachment, but when there are more than 200 internal invitees, access is limited to the host, co-hosts, and the person who started transcription. External attendees should not assume the attachment grants access. If a link requests permission, compare the signed-in account with the intended recipient and ask the owner to review sharing. Keep processing delays separate from access errors. Finally, confirm that the document contains the expected spoken segment before forwarding it as the meeting’s transcript.
