Stopping a Google Meet presentation ends the screen share while keeping your meeting connection active. Use the presentation control when you want to return to discussion. The hang-up button serves a different purpose and can remove you from the conversation before you confirm that participants have what they need.
Return to the Meet window
If you are working in the shared application or tab, switch back to the meeting window. Check that you are looking at the correct meeting before using its controls. Find the active presentation status rather than the microphone, camera, or leave-call button. Point to unfamiliar icons to read their labels.
Stop the current presentation
Click Stop Presenting in the Meet window. Google also documents the route You are presenting, then Stop presenting, at the bottom right. Use the route visible in your current layout. Once the share stops, remain in the meeting and ask whether the group is ready to continue by conversation or needs a permitted file link.
Verify sharing has ended
Check that Meet no longer identifies you as actively presenting and ask a participant to confirm your shared content disappeared. Only then open unrelated documents or private media in the previously shared area. Your camera may remain active while presenting and afterward, so inspect its separate state if you need privacy. If you intend to share a different source immediately, start a new presentation deliberately and verify its scope. If the meeting itself is over, choose the appropriate leave action separately; hosts should also distinguish leaving personally from ending the call for everyone. A finished presentation does not automatically end the meeting or distribute the source file to participants.
