Fix the Repeating Mirror Effect When Presenting Google Meet

A repeating tunnel of Google Meet windows usually appears when the shared source includes the meeting’s own presentation preview. The audience receives the meeting showing itself repeatedly. Correct the shared source before adjusting camera settings, because this visual feedback concerns presentation content rather than the webcam.

Identify the shared meeting view

Inspect the active presentation indicator and the source you selected. If you shared the Meet tab, the Meet window, or a screen displaying that window, the preview can capture itself. Ask whether participants see the repeating tunnel too. This distinguishes a shared-source problem from a local window arrangement that only distracts you.

Share the actual content instead

Stop presenting, then open the document or website in a different tab or application window. Choose Present now and select that specific tab or window. Google recommends a separate tab or window for better presentations and to prevent mirroring. Check the preview title carefully so you do not select the meeting again. Inspect the audio option appropriate to the chosen source.

Check a full-screen arrangement carefully

If the task requires sharing an entire screen, move the presentation to a different monitor when available and keep the meeting window outside the shared display. Ask a participant to confirm that only the intended content appears, then make one harmless movement or page change to confirm updates. Do not solve the tunnel by covering the preview with a confidential window, which may expose that content. When the presentation ends, stop sharing before rearranging private work. Keep webcam self-view mirroring separate from this issue: a reversed background preview and a recursive screen share have different causes and require different checks.
