Moving a Google Calendar event to another calendar you can use is different from creating a duplicate or transferring it to a new organizer. Use the destination-calendar control when the event belongs in a different calendar under your management, then verify guests and conferencing.
Identify the event and destination
Open Google Calendar on a computer and select the intended event. Check its calendar, organizer, date, and guest list. Confirm that the target calendar is the correct destination and that you have the necessary access to use it.
Change the event’s calendar
Choose Edit event. Open the dropdown beside the calendar name, select the calendar to move the event to, and save. Google’s transfer guidance describes this workflow separately from the Change owner operation.
The official guidance also identifies limits for transferring events with more than 200 guests. If an option is unavailable, review the documented eligibility and permissions rather than recreating the event with a different audience.
Verify the moved version
Reopen the event and confirm its destination calendar and current details. Check whether its new calendar’s sharing rules are appropriate for the content. Review room availability, guest communication, and any Meet policies affected by the move. Do not assume a calendar change has no consequences merely because the title and time stayed the same. If the intention is an independent copy, use the explicit copy workflow instead and manage duplication deliberately. The completed move should leave a clearly identifiable event in the intended calendar without an unexplained competing version.
