Google Meet can hold each Q&A submission until a host approves it. This is separate from hiding a question after it has already appeared. Enable moderation before collecting questions if the audience must not see unreviewed posts.
Enable the approval requirement on a computer
As the host using the web on a computer, open Host Controls and scroll to Meeting Activities. Turn on Hide each question until a host approves. Google’s guidance says moderation is off by default and can only be managed through the web on a computer. Having Q&A enabled alone does not mean an approval queue is active.
Review pending questions individually
Find a question marked Pending approval. Read it for relevance and unnecessary private details, then choose Approve or Delete the question according to the meeting’s moderation approach. Google does not provide bulk approval. Keep enough moderator attention on the queue so legitimate questions are not left waiting simply because the host is presenting. Explain the review process to participants before the activity starts.
Understand changes and report retention
A host can turn moderation off during the meeting, but Google’s guidance says already-asked questions are not affected by that change. Do not promise that disabling the switch will automatically release an earlier pending queue. Hiding or deleting a question in the live interface also does not remove it from the moderator’s post-meeting report: the report includes asked, hidden, approved, and deleted questions. Anonymous submissions retain their documented identity protections, so do not present moderation as a way to uncover their authors. Review the visible list and pending items before ending the session, then handle unresolved questions through the agreed follow-up process.
