Change Google Calendar Event Notifications on Android

Google Calendar Android notification settings include personal event reminders and device-level delivery controls. Changing a reminder in the app can synchronize that preference across your account. Turning off the phone’s app permission is a different action and does not necessarily remove email or computer reminders.

Change one event’s reminder

Open the event in the Google Calendar app and tap Edit. Use Add notification to choose how and when to be notified, or remove an unwanted notification. Tap Done where required, then Save. Check the final reminder list after reopening the event.

Review calendar and device settings

For a calendar’s defaults, open Menu, Settings, and the intended calendar. Google’s Android guidance offers controls to add, change, or remove notifications. Under Settings, General, Calendar notifications, inspect available sound and vibration settings.

Android system notification menus vary by device. Review Calendar’s specific app permission rather than broadly disabling unrelated notifications or changing every calendar in every account.

Verify the actual alert route

Use an appropriate harmless test event and inspect what arrives on the phone and other relevant account contexts. Google’s guidance says your notification choices are personal and do not set guests’ preferences. Calendar-level defaults apply to new events unless individually customized. Also check another calendar app if duplicate alerts come from two apps showing the same account. A saved reminder is not proof that the phone can deliver it under its current permissions and focus settings. Keep the tested device, event, and account clear so one successful Android alert is not presented as verification of every guest’s or every device’s reminders.
