Embed a Google Calendar on a Website and Review Its Audience Access

An embedded Google Calendar displays a calendar on a website, but its audience still depends on calendar access. Copying embed code does not automatically grant every visitor permission. Review whether the schedule is intended for named people, an organization, or the public before adding it to a page.

Choose the calendar and audience

On a computer, open the calendar’s Settings and sharing and inspect its current grants. Review sensitive event titles, descriptions, locations, and attachment names before considering public access. Do not publish a private calendar merely to make an empty embed disappear.

Prepare the supported embed

Under Integrate calendar, use the embed customization route and copy the generated code into an appropriate website component. Google’s guidance specifies dimensions of at least 500 pixels each. That requirement does not establish that your website’s surrounding layout works on smaller screens.

Choose displayed navigation and other options deliberately. Removing navigation buttons can leave keyboard navigation as the available route, which should be considered when designing the surrounding page.

Verify access and presentation

Inspect the actual website using the intended viewer context, including a signed-out visit when the calendar is meant to be public. Test narrow and wide layouts for overflow and usable controls. A successful view in the calendar owner’s signed-in browser is insufficient evidence of visitor access. Keep a clear descriptive link or alternative route available when appropriate. Review the website’s publication process separately from the calendar’s sharing settings. The completed integration should establish both the intended audience and a usable page, without claiming that an iframe alone verifies every event detail or every visitor’s permissions.
