The Google Calendar Android app can create and complete tasks as well as events. Use a task for an action you need to do, and assign a date when it should appear on the grid. A task’s completion state is different from attendance at a meeting.
Create the dated action
Open the app and tap an empty slot, then Task, or use Add > Task. Google’s guidance also describes the Tasks view’s Add task route. Enter a useful title, date, and intended task list, then save.
Review timing and display
Inspect start-date and deadline fields separately. The current guidance places a deadline in Calendar’s all-day section. Untimed dated tasks notify at nine in the morning, while a specified task time has its own notification timing. Check delivery permissions independently.
In Menu, confirm Tasks is checked if the dated action is missing. Hiding Tasks does not turn off task notifications. Google’s Android guidance provides a separate Tasks notifications route in Calendar settings.
Complete without deleting
Open the task actually finished and choose Mark completed. Completed tasks are shown by default, with Show completed tasks available under Settings and General when you prefer a cleaner view. Deletion removes a task completely and is not the appropriate substitute for recording completion. For a recurring task, inspect the next expected occurrence rather than creating another routine because a future instance is not yet visible. Keep the account, task list, and date clear during verification. The useful result is one identifiable dated action and an accurate completion record, without unnecessary duplicates or accidental loss of task history.
