A Google Calendar home-screen widget on Android can show upcoming events or a month view without opening the app. Its layout and placement depend on the device’s launcher. Review the information visible on the home screen before using it on a phone others may see.
Add the desired widget
Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen, then choose Widgets > Calendar. Google’s guidance distinguishes Calendar schedule, which shows tasks and upcoming events, from Calendar month view. Hold the desired widget and drag it to an empty space.
Resize or move the display
Touch and hold the widget, then release it to show an outline with resize dots. Drag the dots and tap outside when finished. Google notes that the Create button cannot be resized in the Android widget. Device-specific menus and launcher behavior can differ.
To move the widget, hold and drag it to another empty space. Removing the widget through the home screen’s Remove target is different from uninstalling Calendar or deleting the events it displays.
Verify readability and account context
Inspect the actual home screen at the chosen size. Check truncated titles, dates, and whether the relevant events and tasks are represented. Open the app for complete details and synchronization checks rather than treating a compact widget as the full calendar record. Review the account and visible calendars if the expected event is absent. A widget is a convenient display surface, not a guarantee of every notification or a substitute for checking invitation responses. Keep the home-screen information appropriate for the device’s real audience.
