A dated task in Google Calendar represents something you need to do rather than a meeting invitation to guests. Assign a date when you want it to appear on the calendar. An undated task can remain in your task list without appearing on the calendar grid.
Create the task entry
On a computer, click an empty calendar slot or choose Create, then select Task. Enter a clear action-oriented title. Check that you are working in the intended Google Account before adding personal or organizational work.
Set the relevant fields
Choose the date and task list, then review any start time, planned end, or deadline options offered. Google’s current guidance distinguishes the planned work interval from a deadline shown in the all-day section. Do not use those fields interchangeably.
Advanced settings can include availability, color, and visibility. Google limits Do not disturb and Automatically decline meetings options to work or school accounts. A personal task does not necessarily provide those organizational features.
Verify its calendar appearance
Save and find the task on the intended date. Under My calendars, confirm that Tasks is checked if the entry is not visible. Open it again to verify the list and timing before creating another copy. Google’s notification guidance distinguishes scheduled times from untimed dated tasks, which notify at nine in the morning. A date appearing in Calendar is not proof of a reminder on every device. Keep completion separate from deletion and from accepting an invitation. The completed entry should identify one actionable task with the appropriate date and list, rather than duplicate an event that already represents the same work.
