Time Insights in Google Calendar summarizes certain meeting patterns. It should not be described as a complete record of work, attendance, or productivity. Its results depend on account eligibility, administrator settings, event properties, and the date range being viewed.
Check access and scope
Use Calendar on a computer in an eligible work or school account and inspect the Time Insights panel. Google’s guidance limits the feature to the primary calendar and describes access for the owner and people with Make changes and manage sharing permission.
Understand which meetings count
The documented meeting calculation includes events answered Yes, with at least one other guest, marked Busy, and shorter than eight hours. Those conditions can exclude genuine work or a meeting that was entered differently. An event record is also not independent evidence that every listed guest actually attended.
Google describes date-window averaging and treatment of overlapping meetings, so a displayed summary should be interpreted using the selected view rather than simply adding every visible event duration manually.
Verify before drawing conclusions
Compare a few representative events with the panel and check the relevant dates. Review excluded work, solo tasks, breaks, and events with different attendance or availability settings. Do not change those settings merely to improve a chart when they would misrepresent the real schedule. Keep calendar-based meeting analysis separate from payroll, contractual hours, or performance judgments that require other evidence. The useful result is an understood summary of the documented meeting subset, with its inclusion rules and time window clear. It is not proof that all time outside counted meetings was free, unproductive, or unworked.
