Control Whether Google Calendar Guests Can Invite Others

The Invite others permission in Google Calendar controls an ordinary guest’s ability to forward invitations and add participants through that workflow. Review it when the meeting needs a defined audience. It is not a complete guarantee that every link-based sharing route is closed.

Inspect the guest permissions

Open the event on a computer and choose Edit event. Under Guest permissions, review Invite others. Clear it when guests should not expand the ordinary invitation list, then save and inspect the resulting event.

Consider forwarding consequences

Google’s guidance warns that forwarding an invitation can let a recipient respond, invite others, or modify the forwarder’s RSVP. Do not treat an invitation email as a harmless document to distribute widely when attendance or responses need to remain controlled.

Current personal-account event-link guidance also says people with an Invite via link URL can add themselves or others even when the ordinary Invite others setting is off. Review whether such a link exists and where it has been shared.

Verify the intended audience

Check the saved guest list and relevant event-link behavior. Keep sensitive meeting details appropriate for the actual sharing route. If unknown participants appear, investigate the source of access rather than repeatedly toggling one checkbox and assuming every route is secured. Calendar permissions, invitation forwarding, and personal event-sharing links have different effects. The completed review should establish which paths are allowed for the specific meeting, without promising that a single guest permission prevents every possible onward disclosure. Review every existing invitation link.
