Hiding the guest list in Google Calendar can keep ordinary invitees from seeing other guests through the event invitation. Use the actual guest-list permission rather than reusing an old meeting code as a privacy workaround. Stronger calendar permissions and conferencing behavior still need separate review.
Change the guest-list control
On a computer, open the event and choose Edit event. Under Guest permissions, uncheck See guest list and save. Confirm that you are editing the intended event, particularly if several similar meetings exist.
Review related sharing routes
Google’s personal event-link guidance says turning off See guest list makes the event page link stop working. That link workflow requires the guest list to be available. Check whether a previously distributed link is part of the event’s intended invitation process before changing it.
For Meet, use a new event-specific meeting code when scheduling a distinct meeting. Google’s meeting-code guidance warns that a reused code retains relationships to its original event.
Verify realistic privacy limits
Review the event through an appropriate invited-viewer context when possible and inspect the resulting meeting arrangements. Do not describe the setting as making attendance anonymous to the organizer, administrators, or every person with stronger calendar access. Participants may also encounter each other through the live meeting. Keep the event title, description, attachments, and conferencing audience suitable for the intended use. A guest-list preference addresses one display path; it is not a complete confidentiality system for every part of an event. If an event-related Chat already exists, hiding the guest list can leave that conversation active and stop automatic membership synchronization. Review the Chat audience separately.
