Choose a Google Slides Presentation Display with Two Monitors

Google Slides can choose a presentation display when a computer has an additional monitor. This helps separate audience slides from presenter controls. Google’s documented multi-display workflow requires Chrome on a computer and at least one extra attached monitor.

Open the display options

In Slides, use the arrow beside Slideshow and choose Presentation display options. If Chrome requests permission for multi-display support, review the specific request and allow it when appropriate for the presentation setup. This is a targeted permission, not a reason to weaken unrelated browser protections.

Choose the audience monitor

Review the options for Presenter View, starting from the beginning, and full screen. Select the intended monitor, then start the slideshow. Google’s guidance notes that deselecting full screen limits presentation to the current monitor and that Presenter View and full screen cannot be combined on a single monitor.

Look at the actual displays rather than assuming their names correspond to their physical position on the desk.

Verify after changes or reloads

Confirm that the audience display shows only the intended slides and that your presenter controls are on the appropriate screen. Google’s guidance says display options are cleared when the presentation reloads, so repeat the check after reopening or refreshing. Test the meeting’s sharing route separately if remote viewers are involved. A correct monitor assignment does not prove that a video call is sharing that monitor, and screen arrangement should be verified again when cables, docking stations, or displays change. Recheck the arrangement after reconnecting a display cable.
