Check Whether Polls Are Available in Your Google Meet Session

Google Meet polls require a supported meeting edition and can also be disabled by a Workspace administrator. Poll creation and voting have different device requirements. Check the moderator’s available tools before building an activity around a live vote.

Confirm the meeting’s entitlement

Compare the organizer’s actual Workspace edition with Google’s current poll eligibility list. Supported offerings include specified Business, Enterprise, Education, Essentials, Nonprofits, and Individual editions, rather than every account. Ask the administrator whether polling is enabled for the intended organization. A participant’s own paid subscription does not necessarily provide polling to a meeting organized under an unsupported account.

Use a computer for creating polls

Join as the responsible moderator on a computer. Open Meeting tools at the bottom right and look for Polls. Google says mobile users can respond to polls but cannot create them. If a moderator is joining only by phone, arrange a computer-based host for poll preparation and launch. Confirm which moderator will receive and review the results report after the session.

Check the audience and privacy choice

Decide before launch whether responses should appear without names. The anonymous-response setting must be chosen before saving or launching the poll. For a live-streamed meeting, a created poll is automatically available to meeting and live-stream participants; hosts cannot disable polls only for stream viewers. Choose questions suitable for that full audience. Use Save to inspect a draft during the meeting, then verify Launch makes it available when intended. Saved polls last for the current meeting rather than forming a permanent reusable library. If Polls is absent, resolve entitlement, policy, role, and device conditions before promising attendees a vote.
