Add a Sports Schedule or Moon Phases to Google Calendar

Google Calendar’s calendars of interest include sports schedules and Moon phases. These are reference calendars added through their own controls, rather than alternate date-system labels. Choose the relevant source so your grid is useful without accumulating unrelated schedules.

Add a sports schedule

On a computer, open Settings > Settings > Add calendar > Browse calendars of interest. Scroll to Sports, select the available sport category, and check the box beside the intended team. Google’s guidance lists several supported sports, but inspect the teams actually offered.

Add or remove Moon phases

In calendars of interest, check or uncheck Phases of the Moon. This is separate from choosing an alternate lunar or solar calendar in View options. Do not change the alternate date system merely to show phase entries.

Review existing calendars for duplicate-looking schedules and use clear colors or names where the interface permits. Hiding a calendar from the grid is a personal display choice and does not alter the source events.

Verify the reference information

Inspect the actual dates and time-zone display for a few upcoming entries. For travel, ticket purchases, or a critical match arrangement, confirm the current time with the official event organizer rather than relying exclusively on a subscribed reference. A sports calendar does not book tickets or automatically block every scheduling tool, and a phase entry is not a precise local viewing forecast. The completed setup should add only the desired reference layer, with its purpose and practical limits clear. Remove unnecessary subscriptions deliberately instead of repeatedly adding another calendar when an existing one is simply hidden.
