Check Google Meet’s Calendar Guest List Against People Actually Present

Google Meet’s Calendar guest list can show people invited to a scheduled meeting who have not joined yet. It also includes RSVP information and optional attendees. Use it to compare invitations with current participation, while keeping those different states separate: accepting an invitation is not proof someone is present.

Open the invited-participant list

On a computer in an eligible meeting, click People. Google emphasizes clicking rather than merely hovering over the control. The Calendar guest-list feature applies to guests invited through Calendar and is available only on computers with supported Workspace editions. If it is unavailable, inspect the original Calendar event and the current People list separately instead of assuming the invitation had no guests.

Compare invitation and connection status

Look for invited people who have yet to join and review the RSVP and optional-attendee information. Compare the name and account carefully when someone uses a different display name. A missing video tile is not sufficient evidence of absence because layouts show only some participants and may hide non-video tiles. Check the participant information rather than counting visible faces.

Resolve uncertainty without overstating attendance

If a key guest is missing, the list can help you identify whom to contact through the agreed process. The interface offers Chat for reaching an individual guest, but decide whether a follow-up is appropriate before sending it. External participants carry a badge in the People panel. A connected account, room entry, or RSVP does not independently verify that a specific person listened throughout the session. For formal attendance requirements, use the organization’s approved tracking process. Record whether your observation concerns an invitation, response, or current connection so the meeting team can make the right follow-up decision.
