An instant Google Meet starts a new conversation immediately. It is useful when participants are ready now and do not need a newly scheduled Calendar event. Check that a meeting is actually needed before starting one: creating another room can split people between two different links.
Start from the Meet homepage
Open the official Meet website and confirm the signed-in Google Account. Choose New meeting, or the equivalent New control in the current homepage, then select Start an instant meeting. Google describes this option as creating and opening a meeting directly. Review the camera and microphone state before beginning the conversation.
Invite people to this room
Copy the meeting’s joining information and send it through the agreed communication channel. Include enough context for recipients to identify the purpose and organizer. A fresh instant-meeting link is separate from any existing project meeting, even if both use the same title. Do not replace a scheduled invitation merely because some guests have not arrived.
Check access and finish deliberately
Participants may need admission depending on their identity, meeting access settings, and organization policy. Keep the meeting open and watch for legitimate requests. If someone cannot enter, compare the link and account before creating yet another meeting. Starting a call does not guarantee every recipient can use all host or premium features. When finished, check whether you are leaving personally or ending the meeting for everyone; those are different actions. Share the new link only with the intended audience, and retain the organizer’s original scheduled link for future appointments unless an authorized change is agreed.
