Google Calendar on iPhone or iPad can follow the device time zone or display another selected zone. Use this preference to control how you read the schedule during travel. It is separate from manually changing a meeting’s underlying start and end time.
Open Google’s time-zone setting
In the Google Calendar app, open Menu > Settings > General. Find Use device time zone. Google’s iOS guidance says enabling it updates the app’s time-zone context automatically as you travel.
Choose the desired reference
Leave the option on when the current device zone is appropriate. Turn it off to select another zone through the dropdown. Review the actual city or region instead of relying on an abbreviation or a remembered hour difference.
Keep this Google app setting separate from Apple Calendar’s configuration. A control changed in one app should not be described as verification that the other app now presents the same schedule.
Verify dates as well as hours
Inspect a known meeting and check its local date near midnight. Google says invitees see an event in their own local context, and tasks can adapt when Calendar’s zone changes. Review important task times after travel too. The official guidance warns that distant dates or regions with changed clock rules can have imperfect daylight-saving displays. Confirm critical arrangements against their source when needed. Avoid editing a meeting simply to restore the hour shown before travel if it still represents the correct instant. The completed preference should make the iOS Google Calendar view understandable while preserving the agreed appointment and recognizing that other devices may use different local dates.
