A Google Calendar event can invite someone who uses another calendar service. Add their correct email address and expect their service’s invitation and response behavior to matter. Do not assume that every recipient sees the same interface or that an imported calendar file provides equivalent participation.
Send an ordinary event invitation
On a computer, open the event editor and enter the recipient under Guests. Verify the address, event time, and time zone, then save and review the invitation prompt. Google’s guidance says non-Google Calendar guests can receive email invitations and respond through the available Yes, No, or Maybe links.
Keep participation separate from calendar transfer
An invitation identifies a guest in the event. An ICS import or calendar subscription is a different workflow and should not be described as the same thing as being invited. Imported event data may not retain guests or conferencing in the way an organizer expects.
Check the recipient’s service and sign-in context when responses appear unusual. Google’s help notes potential issues when Calendar is used with a non-Google email address.
Verify the actual response
Inspect the event’s guest list and confirm a critical arrangement through an appropriate channel when necessary. Current Calendar guidance identifies limits to third-party RSVP tracking when per-event response emails are disabled, so do not infer attendance from missing status alone. Check attachments and meeting access separately. A sent invitation is evidence of the intended request, not proof that every external service has synchronized, displayed the event, or returned a reliable response.
