Publishing Google Slides to the web creates a presentation viewing route separate from normal collaborator sharing. Use it deliberately for a suitable audience, and check the account’s actual publication rules. Google’s guidance says visibility can depend on account settings and may be public, organization-wide, or limited within an organization.
Review the complete content
Inspect the deck for private information, optional material, and linked content before publication. Do not rely on skipped slides or inaccessible source files as confidentiality controls. Confirm that the presentation is approved for the audience the publication settings permit.
Create the published route
On a computer, choose File > Share > Publish to web. Review the link or embed option and the presentation timing, then publish only when the scope is appropriate. An administrator may disable publication for a work or school account.
Keep publication separate from granting edit, comment, or view access to the original file. A published viewing route is not an invitation for recipients to edit the deck.
Verify the actual audience link
Open the generated URL through a representative intended viewer context. Check visibility, slide sequence, and timing. Google’s publication help says Slides changes update the published version and that automatic updates cannot be turned off for Slides. Review future edits with that exposure in mind. If the presentation should no longer be published, use Stop publishing; changing ordinary collaborator access alone should not be assumed to remove the published route. Verify the specific live link after any distribution change.
