Show a World Clock in Google Calendar

A world clock in Google Calendar provides regional time references while you work with a schedule. It is useful for checking whether a colleague is likely within a reasonable part of the day. It does not change an event’s time zone or confirm that a particular meeting time is available.

Enable the world clock

On a computer, open Settings > Settings. In the World clock section, enable Show world clock. Use Add time zone and select the relevant city or country, following Google’s time-zone guidance.

Choose meaningful locations

Add the regions you actually coordinate with and keep the list understandable. Similar abbreviations or city names can be confusing, so review the selected zone rather than assuming a familiar country has only one clock setting.

Keep current-time reference separate from a future appointment. A clock useful for deciding whether to contact someone now is not enough to calculate every future date around daylight saving changes.

Verify the scheduling context

For an event, open its details and check the intended date and source zone. Compare the actual future meeting in the relevant zones, including whether its local date differs. Review shared availability and working hours before inviting participants. A world clock is a convenient orientation aid, not a declaration that someone is working or willing to attend. Use it to support explicit date-and-time communication rather than replacing a confirmed schedule with a guessed hour difference based on the clock you happen to see today. Use explicit dates for future arrangements.
