Present Google Slides in a Google Meet Call from the Editor

Google Slides can present its current tab directly to a Google Meet meeting from the editor. This is useful when the deck is already open. Distinguish the presentation-only route from joining the meeting with audio and camera, because the controls and available devices are different.

Choose the meeting route

Use a computer with Chrome or Edge, as required by Google’s editor-to-Meet guidance. Open the presentation and click the Meet control near the top right. Choose the scheduled meeting or enter the intended meeting code.

Present the current tab

For the presentation-only workflow, choose Just present this tab, select the current tab in the sharing prompt, and click Share. Google’s guidance says the microphone, speaker, and camera are unavailable in this direct presentation option.

If you also need to participate in the meeting, use the documented meeting-join arrangement rather than assuming presentation-only mode provides conversation audio. Avoid joining with multiple active audio devices that create feedback.

Verify audience content and controls

Check the meeting’s view of the presented content and rehearse the slideshow. Google’s guidance notes that presenting from the file does not let you switch the shared tab through that route; use Meet’s presentation controls when switching tabs is required. Stop presenting through the appropriate control when finished. Sharing a screen is also different from granting access to the underlying presentation file, so review any file-sharing prompt separately and choose only the role the audience actually needs. Confirm that the chosen meeting code belongs to the intended session.
