PowerPoint Designer Suggestions Missing for One Slide: Fix

You are working on a presentation and Designer normally provides suggestions for every slide. But for one specific slide, the Designer pane shows no ideas or says “No design ideas available.” This happens because PowerPoint Designer has specific requirements for slide layouts and content types. Why PowerPoint Designer Skips a Single Slide

PowerPoint Designer uses an algorithm that analyzes slide content to generate layout and design suggestions. The feature works on most slides but can fail on a specific slide for several reasons:

Blank Slide Content

If a slide contains no text, images, SmartArt, or charts, Designer has nothing to analyze. A completely blank slide will never produce suggestions. The same applies to slides with only a single shape or a table without any text.

Slide Layout Set to Blank

PowerPoint slide layouts control placeholder areas. If the slide uses the Blank layout, Designer cannot detect content placeholders. Even if you add images manually, Designer may not recognize them as analyzable content because the layout lacks defined regions.

Designer Toggle Per Slide

PowerPoint Designer has a global toggle in the Designer pane. However, the feature can become stuck or unresponsive for an individual slide. Toggling it refreshes the suggestion engine for that slide only.

Slide Size or Aspect Ratio Issues
