Notion does not currently document a universal allowance of 250 AI queries per member per month followed by automatic $0.05-per-query charges. Those figures should not be used to budget or troubleshoot your workspace. Check the actual usage message and distinguish included usage, complimentary responses and credit-based features.

Which Kind of Limit Have You Reached?
For certain features in Business and Enterprise workspaces, Notion documents a six-hour usage window and a monthly window tied to the billing cycle. Open Settings → Notion AI → Usage to see your current allowance and refresh information. See the official usage guide.
The relevant unit is not necessarily “one click equals one equal-cost query.” A short rewrite, a long research task and a premium-model request are not interchangeable for budgeting. Record the actual feature and account message instead of calculating remaining work from an invented query total.
Free Trials and Paid-Plan Usage Are Different
Free and Plus workspaces can receive limited complimentary responses. Notion’s trial documentation says another response after choosing Try again counts toward that trial. Once complimentary access is exhausted, the workspace owner should review the Business or Enterprise upgrade offer on desktop.
Do not apply that trial counting rule to every paid feature or assume that trial responses refill each month. Likewise, an existing Business or Enterprise member who hits a temporary allowance should not buy another AI subscription before checking the reset information.
What Happens When Included Usage Runs Out?
Certain AI features may pause until the applicable window refreshes. Normal Notion work can continue. An authorized owner or admin may allow additional use through Notion credits; that setting is a spending decision, not a mandatory troubleshooting step.
Do not repeatedly refresh, clear browser data or create duplicate tasks to try to reset a server-side allowance. If you are unsure which window is responsible, retain the exact notice and compare it with the Usage screen. Contact your administrator if the displayed status and your entitlement disagree.
Premium Models and Automation Need Separate Checks
Premium-model controls include workspace enablement, available credits and member spending limits. Reaching one member’s premium-model limit does not necessarily prevent that person from using included models.
Custom Agents and other credit-based features have their own usage behavior. Consult Notion credits documentation for the specific feature. Do not estimate unattended workflow costs by multiplying the number of visible prompts by a guessed flat rate.
Before enabling additional usage, agree on who may spend credits, the budget and how it will be reviewed. Separate a workspace-wide exhausted balance from a limit set for one person.
Make Usage Easier to Predict
- Run a few representative tasks with non-sensitive content and record the feature, model and usage before and after.
- Provide the desired output format and relevant context up front, reducing avoidable reruns.
- Keep a correct accepted result rather than regenerating it for minor manual edits.
- Break an oversized or ambiguous assignment into verifiable stages. Combining many pages does not guarantee a single fixed-cost action.
- Review recurring automation separately from interactive use, and stop repeated failures before they consume more budget.
When reporting a limit problem, include the plan, workspace, feature, approximate time and exact message. Do not include private document contents unless support specifically needs them through an approved channel. This evidence is more useful than a supposed universal monthly query count.
