A Google Meet presenter can appoint another participant as a co-annotator so they can mark the shared content. This is a presentation collaboration role, not permission to edit the original document or manage the whole meeting. Confirm who should annotate before granting the role.
Prepare the shared annotation surface
Use a supported Workspace edition and compatible Chrome browser, start the intended presentation, and check the annotation tools. Google’s annotation checklist includes being the current presenter and pinning the presentation. Tell the participant what area or issue they should mark so several people do not obscure the same information at once.
Add the selected co-annotator
Open the Participants list and find the person’s exact name. Select More actions beside that entry, then Add as co-annotator. Google also documents hovering over the person’s video tile and using the same menu action. Check the identity carefully when names are similar. Ask the participant to confirm the annotation tools become available and to make one agreed harmless mark.
Verify the collaboration scope
Have another viewer confirm both sets of marks appear on the shared presentation. Explain which colors or tools each contributor will use, and clear obsolete marks before moving to the next topic. Appointment as co-annotator does not establish source-file access, so share editable documents only through their own approved permission process. If the participant cannot annotate, inspect browser compatibility and the current presentation rather than making them a meeting co-host as an unrelated workaround. For supported touchscreen Meet hardware, the presenting device can add the hardware entry as a co-annotator; choose that actual device deliberately. End the markup activity clearly so participants know whether new marks are still part of the discussion.
