Google Slides on iPhone and iPad can crop a picture or mask it into a shape. These operations change the visible presentation of the image. They should not be used as a secure redaction method when the source contains personal or confidential information.
Open the crop controls
In the Slides app, open the presentation and tap the image you want to adjust. Tap Crop. Drag the border to trim the visible area, checking the subject and any important labels near the edges.
Choose a mask when needed
From the crop controls, tap Mask and choose the desired shape. Google’s iOS guidance describes adjusting the shape by dragging its border. Use a shape that supports the picture’s purpose instead of cutting off evidence or a person’s face for decorative symmetry.
Compare repeated masked images for subject size and alignment. Identical outlines can still contain very different visible compositions.
Review outside editing mode
Tap away from the controls and present the slide. Check the caption, visible context, and any text inside the picture. If the crop changes what the image demonstrates, revise the explanation rather than leaving an old description attached. Google’s iOS guidance directs Slides image reset to a computer, while its reset steps inside the mobile app are for Docs. Keep those products separate. For confidential content, prepare a sanitized original before insertion and verify the actual audience file; a crop or mask alone does not establish permanent removal of hidden source details. Inspect the visible subject after leaving crop mode.
